China Trip part 2
Watch out! This is a doozie. I'm REALLY REALLY sorry to my friends who don't have broadband but ... I'll try to see how many can I post up here.
I think got about 20 photo sets here ... T_T
Sorry lah.
Okay continuing from the previous china blog. Er .... where was I? Bleh I cannot remember. All I remember was that the next two days ... the rain was coming and going and the temperature kept on dropping. But still cooling ... UNTIL WE REACHED SHANGHAI! Hahaha. I was so cold that I was shaking in my bones and cannot control it.

This stop we went to the Long Jing Cha tea plantation.
In think I know how do China people stay so slim even though every meal they have is like a BUFFET MEAL to me. I'm serious!!! It's sooo cheap (to me lah) that the amount we order is 3 times more but only 1/3 the price we would pay here in Singapore.
But with such a heavy diet why aren't they fat??? I think the secret is their diet of TEA! SERIOUS! Last week after cooking some oily instant noodles, I left the bowl in the sink and the oil floated to the top lah. Hubby was throwing away the tea leaves so he just threw it in the bowl of oily water. Next day I tell you!!! The oil was GONE!!!
In China the number of tea shops is as many as the starbucks and other coffeeshops here. That's why. Switch to tea!! It's good for you!

I forgot what's the name of this next place but I remember it for the beautiful artwork on every level of that little pagoda. Not to mention the beautiful GOLD ROOf!!!
Ooh this is the famous General Yue Fei Temple. The guy whose mother tattoo-ed the words "Jing Zhong Bao Guo" (Respect, loyalty, to the country) on his back. Hubby was looking forward to seeing this place.
A freaking long bridge ordered to be built by Mao Zi Dong. Sadly I forgot what it was built for. My brain was partially dead already at this point of time from the cold and all the butt cramping on the bus.
Random beautiful garden ... keke.
Next stop we were supposed to see a giant gold buddha statue. But it was tooo foggy!!! Cries. It was supposed to be really grand looking. They say that I'm only as tall as his toe if I were to really climb the mountain to get up close. Cries!!! WASTED!!!
This next garden (groan not another garden) ... okok ... just look.
Going to Nanjing Road (shopping stuff) but in truth I didn't buy anything EXCEPT a few DVDS ... really very cheap. But then ah ... it was hard to really shop cause of the cold rain and droppig temperatures ... brrrrrr.
Now in Shanghai liao. Nothing much to write lah. Looks like a city like. Only thing is that .. if you ever think of driving here .. forget it. We can never have the skills these people have here. These people here are FIERCE!!!! Here it is people not scare car and car not scare people. If you scared of car you can NEVER cross the road. Not even when it's the pedestrains right of way, cars will still go.
Okay this building is the 4th highest in the world if I remember right. 88 stories.

Basically I have to say this of China. I just hate the toilets. More than 50% of the time the doors don't have locks and less than 25% of the time you can sit. The times when there ARE WORKING locks on the doors and sitting toilet bowls .... is mostly because it's found in the hotel we stayed in.
If I can take not going to the loo till I reach the hotel at nights, I can safely say that China is a BEAUTIFUL cultural rich country!!!!
My hubby said this,"Every chinese should go back to China to revisit their roots. To know a bit of their chinese heritage anad culture."
I've also found that the people's knowledge of their politics, history and stories of their culture etc aka CURRENT AFFAIRDS, is REALLY GOOD!!! They can name politicians and the stuff they have contributed to their country, stories of how a food dish is made etc .... their knowledge is BURSTING! Me?! I can barely remember beyond the names of some of the more famous leaders of Singapore like our president, senior minister, prime minister.
Okay enough of that. Here's my damage for the trip.

This is only the bags. I still bought plenty others. But since I didn't write down the list ... er ... I'll try to list as many as I can.
Damage :
- silk sheet set (RMB 3800+ ~ S$750+) [I can safely say this is WORTH EVERY CENT!!]
- "long jing cha" tea leaves (RMB 900 ~ S$180)
- "quan zi dong" (all automatic) tea set (RMB 350 ~ S$70)
- pi xiu "dragon king's 9th son" (RMB 1800 ~ S$360)
- pearl pendants (S$20 x2) and 2 bottles of face cream (RMB 100 ~ S$20)
- bao fu ling (RMB 250 ~ S$50) [This cream is a great cooling cream for burns, skin rashes, inflammations etc.]
And to those who still think that it's not worth getting the silk bed sheets ... try it. I tell you ... I LOVE sleeping on those sheets!!! It's soooo smooth and cooling. My dogs love it too ... hee hee.
That's only some of the purchases. I've not included some of the tees, jackets and my boots to the equation. Hee hee.
