China Trip part 2

Watch out! This is a doozie. I'm REALLY REALLY sorry to my friends who don't have broadband but ... I'll try to see how many can I post up here.

I think got about 20 photo sets here ... T_T

Sorry lah.

Okay continuing from the previous china blog. Er .... where was I? Bleh I cannot remember. All I remember was that the next two days ... the rain was coming and going and the temperature kept on dropping. But still cooling ... UNTIL WE REACHED SHANGHAI! Hahaha. I was so cold that I was shaking in my bones and cannot control it.

This stop we went to the Long Jing Cha tea plantation.

In think I know how do China people stay so slim even though every meal they have is like a BUFFET MEAL to me. I'm serious!!! It's sooo cheap (to me lah) that the amount we order is 3 times more but only 1/3 the price we would pay here in Singapore.

But with such a heavy diet why aren't they fat??? I think the secret is their diet of TEA! SERIOUS! Last week after cooking some oily instant noodles, I left the bowl in the sink and the oil floated to the top lah. Hubby was throwing away the tea leaves so he just threw it in the bowl of oily water. Next day I tell you!!! The oil was GONE!!!

In China the number of tea shops is as many as the starbucks and other coffeeshops here. That's why. Switch to tea!! It's good for you!

I forgot what's the name of this next place but I remember it for the beautiful artwork on every level of that little pagoda. Not to mention the beautiful GOLD ROOf!!!

Ooh this is the famous General Yue Fei Temple. The guy whose mother tattoo-ed the words "Jing Zhong Bao Guo" (Respect, loyalty, to the country) on his back. Hubby was looking forward to seeing this place.

A freaking long bridge ordered to be built by Mao Zi Dong. Sadly I forgot what it was built for. My brain was partially dead already at this point of time from the cold and all the butt cramping on the bus.

Random beautiful garden ... keke.

Next stop we were supposed to see a giant gold buddha statue. But it was tooo foggy!!! Cries. It was supposed to be really grand looking. They say that I'm only as tall as his toe if I were to really climb the mountain to get up close. Cries!!! WASTED!!!

This next garden (groan not another garden) ... okok ... just look.

Going to Nanjing Road (shopping stuff) but in truth I didn't buy anything EXCEPT a few DVDS ... really very cheap. But then ah ... it was hard to really shop cause of the cold rain and droppig temperatures ... brrrrrr.

Now in Shanghai liao. Nothing much to write lah. Looks like a city like. Only thing is that .. if you ever think of driving here .. forget it. We can never have the skills these people have here. These people here are FIERCE!!!! Here it is people not scare car and car not scare people. If you scared of car you can NEVER cross the road. Not even when it's the pedestrains right of way, cars will still go.

Okay this building is the 4th highest in the world if I remember right. 88 stories.

Basically I have to say this of China. I just hate the toilets. More than 50% of the time the doors don't have locks and less than 25% of the time you can sit. The times when there ARE WORKING locks on the doors and sitting toilet bowls .... is mostly because it's found in the hotel we stayed in.

If I can take not going to the loo till I reach the hotel at nights, I can safely say that China is a BEAUTIFUL cultural rich country!!!!

My hubby said this,"Every chinese should go back to China to revisit their roots. To know a bit of their chinese heritage anad culture."

I've also found that the people's knowledge of their politics, history and stories of their culture etc aka CURRENT AFFAIRDS, is REALLY GOOD!!! They can name politicians and the stuff they have contributed to their country, stories of how a food dish is made etc .... their knowledge is BURSTING! Me?! I can barely remember beyond the names of some of the more famous leaders of Singapore like our president, senior minister, prime minister.

Okay enough of that. Here's my damage for the trip.

This is only the bags. I still bought plenty others. But since I didn't write down the list ... er ... I'll try to list as many as I can.

Damage :
- silk sheet set (RMB 3800+ ~ S$750+) [I can safely say this is WORTH EVERY CENT!!]
- "long jing cha" tea leaves (RMB 900 ~ S$180)
- "quan zi dong" (all automatic) tea set (RMB 350 ~ S$70)
- pi xiu "dragon king's 9th son" (RMB 1800 ~ S$360)
- pearl pendants (S$20 x2) and 2 bottles of face cream (RMB 100 ~ S$20)
- bao fu ling (RMB 250 ~ S$50) [This cream is a great cooling cream for burns, skin rashes, inflammations etc.]

And to those who still think that it's not worth getting the silk bed sheets ... try it. I tell you ... I LOVE sleeping on those sheets!!! It's soooo smooth and cooling. My dogs love it too ... hee hee.

That's only some of the purchases. I've not included some of the tees, jackets and my boots to the equation. Hee hee.

PP and Polling

Have you gotten the money from your Progress Package yet? Hee hee.

*runs around hopping happy that I got $800*

But damn I cannot remember which account did I put it into. POSB or UOB? T_T

Oh yeah ... for the first time after I've turned 21 five years ago ... I GET TO VOTE!!! Woot!

Before I used to live in Pasir Ris the last time there was a polling. It was a walkover on that side.

But this year ... wah ... like a lot of opposition everywhere. My present area, Jalan Besar, have to go and vote.

First of all I was bickering and whining that we have to spend our Saturday to go and vote. Sian. Then complained that we have to TRAVEL to some Community Centre or school to vote.

Then poof! All my worries were for naught.

We're assigned to do our voting at .... Geylang West Community Club.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!

That C.C. is JUST outside my block!!!! I see it everytime I look out my kitchen window!!! HAR HAR HAR!!!! Okay no problem liao.

Music Meme

Darn that Ah Beng for tagging me to this music meme.

*runs through my brain for song titles*

Instructions: Dig out your music player under the bed and put it on shuffle. If there isn't any shuffle mode on it, it means it's about time you get a new one. Say the following questions aloud, making sure nobody's around you, in case you're mistaken as being crazy. Press play. Use the song title as the answer to the question. Oh, and no cheating please.

How does the world see me?
You Don't Know Me - Michael Buble
Everyone sees someone happy go lucky, seemingly everything is going my way. But not really. If you really get to know me ... I'm not really what I seem.

Will I have a happy life?
When You Believe

What do my friends think of me?
All She Wants To Do Is Dance
Well, they know I love to club and party. And I dislike drinking. I just wanna dance.

Do people secretly lust after me?
King Of Wishful Thinking
Actually here should put "Queen". Never loh. Secretly LUST after me?!?! No way loh. First of all the little ring on my finger is the biggest turn off. Then next ... just look at me. How can feel lustful???? *pukes*

How can I make myself happy?
A Little Respect
I feel that I don't get enough of this. In fact ... do I get it at all. Right now feeling so unappreciated. All the things I do, all the things I help, is it appreciated??? Do they care??? I wonder if all I did is even noticed.

What should I do with my life?
Let's Get It Started - Black Eyed Peas
I need to get started a LOT of little projects that I keep saying I'll do but always procrastination gets in the way. And I do mean ... A LOT!!!

Will I ever have children?
Schnappi
That song with the little baby. Okay I do want to have children. But I still am unsure when exactly. Not this year definitely. I've to make sure I get my maternity leave and to be eligible for that, I need to be in a company for at least 6 months. Next year? The year after that. All I know I want a son before I hit 30.

What is some good advice for me?
When You Believe - Whitney Housten & Mariah Carey
I just gotta believe in myself more to do things.

How will I be remembered?
When You're Smiling - Michael Buble
Listening to the lyrics ... I want people to remember me, a smiling face. Smiling because they know I led a fulfilling life. I want them to remember my smiling happy face and hoping they will smile too when they remember me.

What is my signature dancing song?
That Thing You Do - The Wonders
This is the song that always gets me excited at Mambo!!! He hee. Wherever I am in Zouk, once I hear this, you'll see me break out in those ritual arm movements to this. Hee hee.

What do I think my current theme song is?
You Live Only Once - The Strokes
I feel that we all should live life to the fullest. You'll never know when will it be D-DAY. Do what you want. Do what you feel like. Do not live a life of regrets. I'm trying to live like that now. Must do what I want to do before I can't do them anymore.

What does everybody think my current theme song is?
Stick With You - Pussycat DollsYes I'll be sticking to my man. Cause I guess no one else loves me like him right now. Guess he's one who can see through me and see me inside. But sometimes again, I dunno if he does. Oh well, sticking with my man.

What song will be played at my funeral?
She - Groove Coverage
Yes my whole life symbolized in one word ... SHE. She was this ... She was that .... She was ... She.

What type of men/women do I like?
Soldier - Destiny's Child
Hee hee I am actually quite turned on by a guy in a uniform. Maybe that's why my man is a army man. Love seeing him in his green camo uniform with the short sleeves .. makes him look soooo man.

What is my day going to be like?
Let The Rain Fall Down - Hilary Duff
I just heard the sound of thunder in the distance. And DAMN I have to work at the shop today. Oh well ... I'll bring a trusty unbrella.

Okay I'm done. Bleah I won't tag anyone. My dear friends are mostly stuck in the midst of exams or swamped in paper work in the office. Spare you all lah. Hee hee.

Trip to Shanghai/Jiangnan, China (part 1)

WARNING : 18 sets of photos here!!! And these are only from DAY 1 and 2!!!! Cries. I'm still editing the rest ... *faints*.

Day 1 starts off at midnight at the airport ...

8th April 2006 - 0000hours.

Our plane takes off at 2am ... SIAN!

Waiting for our plane is so boring.

Yan! You want that pic of that Vespa, just MSN me and I'll send you the big pic.

8th April 2006, 0800hours

After 5 hours on the plane sleeping, YES SHANGHAI!!! We're HERE!!!

There's really all sorts of people here.

Hubby doesn't believe me but beside us in another queue I DISTINCTLY heard a chinese little boy speaking French (or maybe German or Dutch or Espaniol, not sure). Told hubby but everytime hubby listened, the boy spoke CHINESE!!! WHAT THE FUCK! And everytime he didn't listen, and I took note, the boy was speaking ANOTHER language. DAMN!!!!

Yah lah I know I ACTING cute there. Hehehe. I like leh!

Sitting the Magnetic Train.

This is a f-ing FAST train. Faster than bullet train. It got to our destination (distance approx-ly 30km) in only 7 freaking minutes!!!

It was able to hit the speed of 430 km/h. Comparable to aeroplane liao leh! I wonder how would my face be like if I put my head out the window like a dog would HAHAHA.

AT LAST after 2 hours sitting on the bus getting butt and leg cramps, we've arrived at City God Temple.

First of all, I do not see any temple, but I know they have one there. What I see mostly are lots of stalls selling souveniers, food and lots of snacks. And people ... the many many black haired heads of PEOPLE EVERYWHERE!

Being a stupid short girl, this is not good. Not much can be seen unless through short partings of people when they are walking by.

And PUSHING! Gosh I was being pushed everywhere I went! Not to mention the jackets that we brought were sooooo redundant. Hot sunlight + cool winds = PERFECT WEATHER!!!

Next stop Water Bound Town Xitang. Another hour bus ride. Sian. Why must everywhere be so far apart?!

Day 2

Wake up 630 to wash up. 7am breakfast. 8am we're off.

But before that we finished breakfast earlier, and took a little walk around our hotel. Got a few stuff plus a scrunchie, cause stupid me forgot to bring hair band to tie up my hair.

Here we are at Hanshan Temple.

What to say about this one ah. Er ... it's quite relaxing. I wanted to just sit down by one of the benches with a pot of hot green tea and getting inspiration from my surroundings. The flowers there were really pretty.

Our stop at the Silk Mill. Ya lah I know. Another place for us sucker tourists on tour groups to be suckered into parting with our money for overpriced items.

This is where we first slashed out credit card through a machine. This is not the actual print we bought but I'll take a picture when I FIRST USE IT next week.

Me : Dear the bill is RMB3840. We have enough cash but I still need it to buy my fake branded bags in Xiangyang, Shanghai.

Hubby : Okay. Charge it to my card. Wah ... we just spent S$700++ on BEDSHEETS. Hahaha!

At least we know we're getting quality goods for our buck. And when my fingers touched the smooth silk ... I cannot just leave there without buying anything.

Okay will continue another day. Head is exploding from aching. Me have to watch my tv now.

BTW SUPERBAND is one of the best musical reality contests ever in Singapore!! Thank you Mediacorp!!!! At last a contest with talent ALL ROUND.

Back from China ... a summary

Okie. I'm back. I'm already complaining about the heat here.

Gosh when I'm there I complain that it's too cold. It went down to a freaking 9 degrees celcius in the evening ... WITH RAIN!!!!! I couldn't control myself from shivering in my shoes and the chattering in my teeth.

But I still enjoyed myself. The mix of the hot sun and the cool wind is what I loved. Going around in just tee shirt and jeans while everyone else were wrapped tightly in winter jackets, pants and boots.

Pictures ... well ... over 500. But I won't post all. Just some. Er ... I'll try.

But now I'm unpacking the stuff we bought ... just imagine we spent over S$2000 there. HAHAHAHAHAH!!!! I'll show and tell you all why later after I've taken all the pictures, crop and tag them. HAHahahaha!

Just opened my email ... gosh 110 emails in Hotmail. But like ... 75% were junk hahahah. Oh well.

Hope to get the pictures up by tomorrow or monday or whatever. I need to fix my nails and my hair!! Broken nails and DRY HAIR!!! CRIES!!!

china here i come

Shanghai (and Jiangnan) here I come!!

Fann : What's that?!
Jackie : I think it's food.
Owen : Woah I didn't know you could cook that!

I'm really scared of what sort of FOOD that I might see there. Like they say :

Anything that can walk, fly, swim can be cooked and eaten. Except humans.

But then again even humans are not spared ... foetuses are known to be eaten to nourish something ... I forgot what. Yucks.

I'm gonna be drinking LOADS of water there.
